Scenic Views From Scenic World

Scenic Views From Scenic World

After our adventures at Featherdale Wildlife Park, Luke and I decided to venture further west toward Blue Mountains National Park. Scenic World, located in the small town of Katoomba, opened in 1945 and allows you to explore the rainforests of the Blue Mountains with easy walking paths and fun transportation options. For $39 (Australian) per adult, guests have unlimited access to the Scenic Railway and Scenic Cableway which transport you to and from the Jamison Valley floor, as well as the Scenic Skyway which offers beautiful views of Katoomba Falls, Three Sisters, Orphan Rock and the expansive Blue Mountains.

Scenic World is Australia’s most visited, privately owned tourist attraction. Their bragging rights include the steepest passenger train in the world at a daring 52-degree incline, the highest cable car in Australia at 270 meters (nearly 886 feet) above the valley floor, and Australia’s largest cable car.

Honestly, I thought the price for Scenic World was a bit steep. Our favorite part was the cliff walk and realistically we could have accessed that through another area and spent more time hiking. On the other hand, parking is free at Scenic World and the views truly are priceless.

If you do head out that way, make sure you stop in Katoomba for a quick bite. There are some great little food places along Katoomba Street.
