Why We Spent Christmas in a Kitchen

For the last several years Luke and I have had the privilege of serving with Home Port at the Aloha Christmas Breakfast. This year was no different. On Christmas morning, volunteers gathered to serve a homemade breakfast and the love of Christ to military personnel who would not otherwise have much of a Christmas morning. They sacrifice their lives to serve our country and it doesn’t stop for Christmas. Many of them are away from family, home and anything familiar. And that is why we spend Christmas in a kitchen.

The breakfast included cinnamon rolls, eggs, bacon, waffles, fruit, Starbucks coffee and juice and was accompanied by Christmas decor. This year we served over 600 people at the Navy Lodge, NCTAMS and three locations on Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam. We even had a visit from Santa!

I am so thankful for the amazing volunteers we had with us. Go Team Gabrunas!
