Maranatha

I know people who very much believe we are in the end times. It’s not that I don’t believe we are, I mostly just don’t think it matters. We should live with the same urgency to bring others to Christ whether He is coming tomorrow or 1,000 year from now. However, when I think about the recent earthquake in Nepal with death counts surpassing 4,000 and the horrific riots in Baltimore I cannot help but contemplate Mark 13:7-8.

When you hear of wars and rumors of wars, do not be frightened; those things must take place; but that is not yet the end. For nation will rise up against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; there will be earthquakes in various places; there will also be famines. These things are merely the beginning of birth pangs.

My heart breaks over these things, the pain and hurt that is in this world. How I want the Lord to tarry that we may have more time to share His love with others. I pray for those in Nepal, for those hurting in Baltimore and for those all over the world who do not have an eternal hope. But my heart’s cry is also maranatha, come Lord, come.
